Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is everything nut-free and tree nut-free?
A: Yes. There are no nuts in our entire facility. You have a worry-free experience, when it comes to any kind of nut. Our boxes explicitly say “Nut-Free,” as well.
Q: Do you offer vegan or gluten-free as well?
A: Yes. We make gluten-free chocolate and vanilla cupcakes daily, and vegan chocolate and vanilla cupcakes on Saturday/Sunday. We can also do those options for specialty cakes/cupcakes, upon special order.
Q: If I'm serving my baked goods the next day, how do I store them?
A: If the container is airtight, 3-5 days at room temperature. If they are in the cardboard box, wrap it in a shopping bag or cellophane wrap. If you purchased them in the plastic clamshell package, you don’t need to do anything extra.
Q: Can I refrigerate my cupcakes for longer storage?
A: No. The best way to store your cupcakes is in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-5 days. Your cupcakes may also be frozen in an airtight container for up to 4 weeks. To defrost them, allow them to thaw out at room temperature for 3 hours. Do not put frozen cupcakes in the microwave and never refrigerate your cupcakes, as they will dry out in a matter of hours.
Q: Do special cupcakes need to be ordered in advance?
A: Yes. If the order is of our classic daily flavours, the day before is enough notice. We do require a minimum of 48 hours notice for custom cupcake orders (flower-shaped frosting, extra decorations, etc.).
Q: Can I change my cupcake order?
A: Sure! If it was a couple days ago, we can change the amount or design of your order. Any changes can be made to an order of our daily flavours. If you call us on the day of pickup for specialty flavours, maaaybe not. Please advise us of any changes you need, as soon as possible.
Q: Does The Social Cupcake only make cupcakes?
A: Nope! We also specialize in celebration cakes for all occasions, such as birthdays, graduations, baby and bridal showers and weddings. We also make several other baked goods, including squares, cake donuts, brownies and cakepops.
Q: Do you deliver?
A: For wedding staging, yes! Otherwise no.
Q: Do I need to order a cake in advance?
A: Yes. For small celebration cakes we require two weeks notice, and for wedding cakes we require a minimum of one month’s notice.
Q: Do I have to pay for my special order cake (not including wedding cakes) at time of ordering?
A: Yes, either in person, or over the phone with a credit card.
Q. Is a deposit required for wedding cakes?
A: Yes. A deposit of 50% is required on wedding cakes and it must be paid in full, two weeks prior to pickup/delivery.
Q: Can you just make something artistic for me, on my cake?
A: Yes but we’d prefer a little more direction from you. What kind of colours or images do you want? It’s best to supply us with pictures of what you’re imagining (we can all show off your cake with pride on both sides). Print off or email us your inspirations!
Q: Can I buy a cake today?
A: Not yet. Every cake is made fresh to order, and needs time to cool before it’s frosted (or the frosting will melt).
Q: Can you tell me how much the cake I want, over the phone, will cost?
A: We’d love to! It may take a while for our owner, or decorator to get back to you on that: They are incredibly busy throughout the day and it may take a few hours or a day to reply back, to find out what you want to create.
